Abstract

Regenerating Places in New Zealand

Regeneration of places in a pandemic world

Urban regeneration in New Zealand is on the ascendancy, with the Government giving greater importance to it, not least in urban infrastructure investments being made or planned. In response to this trend, David will explore how places can use urban regeneration and delivery models to help shape and grow places. Further, he will explore the assertion that effective urban regeneration is best achieved within a strategic and comprehensive framework - not simply property led renewal. He will also explore how the COVID19 pandemic will further exemplify the need for regeneration in cities, and how it has disrupted how we have looked at cities and city centres.
